Testing in Motion: more than 200 participants from the flight testing and launch vehicle telemetry community

Organized by Safran Data Systems, the 2020 edition of Testing in Motion took place on Tuesday, September 29 and Wednesday, September 30 at the Safran Paris-Saclay site in Châteaufort.

Testing in Motion is the event for collaborative innovation, knowledge exchange and networking about flight testing (airborne & ground segments) and launch vehicle telemetry. It is a unique opportunity for our customers and partners from all industries and our academic partners to meet, discuss current developments, share their experiences in the service of technology and discuss their current and future needs.

- Labs to discover and discuss the latest product and service developments of Safran Data Systems

This year, beyond the constraints related to Covid-19 (site reception capacity, travel restrictions), Safran Data Systems seized this opportunity to offer this event online to our customers and prospects from all over the world - and thus organizing Safran's first phygital* customer event. And it was a success, in total, nearly 200 participants from 31 different countries were able to follow - face-to-face or online - the panels and labs prepared by our experts. This event was also an opportunity for close collaboration with the Safran Electronics & Defense teams in charge of the trajectography activities, who were able to present complementary solutions to the flight test community.

Flight test equipment and solutions are dedicated to airframe manufacturers, missile providers, launch vehicle manufacturers, avionics and systems integrators as well as governmental test ranges. Safran Data Systems provides end-to-end solutions, from acquisition to processing able to meet flight test and telemetry customer's needs:
o Instrumentation products and solutions: on-board data acquisition units, switches, modular recorders, transmitters
o Ground telemetry products and solutions: tracking antennas, multi-band RF receivers, RF recorders, analog and digital signals recorders, decommutators
o Fully capable software suite (set-up, operation and processing)
 

Focus on Safran Electronics & Defense's electro-optical tracking solution

SED has a longstanding and recognized expertise in the field of electro-optical tracking solutions for test centers in France and abroad. SED has very recently developed a complementary solution to the Safran Data System's telemetry and flight test instrumentation. This solution combines the performance of the PASEO XLR sight with the latest inertial technologies to provide test centers and weapons manufacturers with highly accurate images and measurements of the trajectories and attitudes of any flying device (aircraft, missile, projectile, parachute, etc.) during the development and validation stages. The solution is mobile: it consists of two PASEO XLR-T, equipped with an HRG inertial unit, and a command & control center installed on trailers. It can be deployed in less than 4 hours on any green field or integrated into an institutional test center, like at the French MOD Technical Center in Bourges (France).
