Navigation & Pointing for artillery
Safran Electronics & Defense's navigation, pointing and localization systems are designed for weapons systems. They are intended for new equipment programs and the modernization of artillery units. Based on cutting edge technology, this reliable, easy-to-use stand-alone equipment is operational in the harshest of conditions. These inertial navigation systems for the latest-generation artillery systems provide high-performance, highly accurate and ultra-secure pointing. ULISS 30XP is a support tool for armed forces and land weapons systemsdeployment in an unplanned geographic environment. It has been developed for pointing artillery pieces and conducting the most demanding topographic missions.
Geonyx™ is the most compact, robust and reliable land inertial navigation and pointing system of the market. Geonyx™ combines high-grade autonomous or hybrid navigation, target geolocation, positioning and pointing accuracy in a SWaP system. Based on the HRG Crystal™, the proven pioneering hemispherical resonator gyro, Geonyx™ offers a real breakthrough in terms of operational efficiency, integration and costs of ownership.
Since more than 30 years, Sigma 30 INS is the worldwide reference for artillery systems. Sigma 30 is fully resistant to shocks and can be hard-mounted on the weapon for an optimal pointing precision. The major international prime contractors – especially European, Indian and Asian ones – have placed their trust in the Sigma 30. The Sigma 30 system is used in more than 25 international programs for towed and tracked howitzers, multiple rocket launchers and mortars: Nexter's Caesar, BAE Bofors' Archer, Thales' 2R2M etc.
The compact, standalone ULISS 30XP topographic positioning system provides accurate decametric-class positioning of indirect artillery systems that do not have embedded navigators, such as howitzers, mortars or rocket launchers. It can also set metric-class topographic points to realign the navigation of navigator-equipped weapons systems. Lastly, it enables the elaboration of high-precision centimetric-class points for mapping or geodesic use. ULISS 30XP guarantees these levels of performance, even without GPS, so as to meet mission integrity requirements. It can easily be mounted on any light, 4-wheel drive type vehicle and operated by a small team.
