About the role

The objective of the Project Manager is to ensure the successful delivery of SEDA products for assigned programs. This role will work within a team structure, oversee and contribute to the development of designs, ILS functions, hardware and software and other supporting functions for SEDA programs including progress monitoring and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • • Manage assigned projects to meet the cost, schedule and quality requirements of the contract;
  • • Meet the project financial targets;
  • • Manage and coordinate assigned project team members and other resources to ensure project requirements including;
o Engineering (hardware and software)
o ILS and other supporting functions
o Commercial and legal
  • • Build and maintain effective customer relationships
  • • Local implementation of SEDA business strategy working in conjunction with Australian Commonwealth capability requirements
  • • Provide support to the Sales & Marketing team including;
o Taking part in tender responses through bids and proposals as required
  • • Development of mid-term and long term technology plan
  • • Management of subcontractors to ensure project completion is on schedule and on budget.

Job requirements

Experience and technical skills:

  • • 5 years' experience in Project Management in Defence or similar highly regulated environment
  • • Knowledge of Defence Acquisition and Sustainment contracts highly desirable
  • • Tertiary qualification in Project Management or Engineering
  • • Specialised knowledge and/or practical application of optronics, navigation and/or radar systems - desirable
  • • Experience with defence Earned Value Management Systems - desirable
  • • Demonstrated experience managing projects with overseas suppliers;
  • • Demonstrated knowledge of the application of the Work Health & Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act and the relevance to product supply in Australia
  • • Advanced use of MS Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Project)

Can demonstrate:

  • • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Department of Defence security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1
  • • Established good working relationships with ADF organisations or local industry
  • • Customer focused
  • • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • • Proactive, Autonomous, Rigorous, Organised
  • • Interest in advanced technologies
  • • Strong work ethic
