Uses precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc. to determine acceptability of components and assemblies to meet the 14 CFR Part 21 requirement prior to shipment. Determines or assists in determining methods, sequences and procedures necessary for inspection. Must have experience in blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of complex parts/product inspection tasks (inspects for defects, errors, variation) and/or evaluates manufacturing processes and procedures following Safran Electronic and Defense, Avionics USA, LLC Quality Management Systems/Procedures and Workmanship Standards. Evaluates products, processes, and procedures through the use of schematic diagrams, sketches, drawings, layout, work instructions and quality operating procedures to ensure accuracy. Required to use measuring devices/inspection tools (micrometers, gauges, scales, calipers, etc.) to verify specifications. Reports defects, errors, and variations and analyzes data. Maintains accurate records of all inspections for department and companywide audits. Using trend data, assists in determining root cause and corrective action activities for process and product improvements. Will be asked to perform random audits of all manufacturing processes, procedures and products. Required to enter time in FIT timekeeping system, charging time to programs being worked and time/attendance. Regular and reliable attendance is required as well as flexibility to support production schedule requiring working overtime hours and alternate shift hours. Work in a safe manner, per Safran's Environmental Health and Safety policies. May be required to perform additional duties/responsibilities. May be asked to train and mentor other employees. Requires knowledge of SAP and computer skills to be used in conjunction with report outs/findings. May take the Lead in Lean activities and contributes ideas for continuous improvement.
Demonstrates assembly problem solving techniques Understands the value of cooperating with others and teamwork as well as being able to work independently. Understands SEDA USA basic rules, policies, and procedures a (attendance, safety, business conduct, etc). Understands the importance of effective communication and participating in department meetings.
High School Diploma or equivalent; identified skills and experience. Previous experience in inspection is required. Previous experience with the FAA Part 21 is desirable.
