Monitoring for military aircraft

During missions, the taxiing, landing and take-off of military aircraft often take place in difficult conditions. Checking the brake temperature and tire pressure is therefore extremely important. Safran Electronics & Defense offers a monitoring system providing reliable, precise measurements.

A system to check brake systems in real time

To satisfy the requirements of operators of combat and military transport aircraft in terms of reliability and performance, Safran Electronics & Defense has developed a monitoring system based on real-time digital transmission. This differentiates it from first-generation systems using analog transmission of the sensor signal. In this way, the Safran brake and tire monitoring system simplifies wheel maintenance. Moreover, it will soon make it possible to fine-tune detection of some wheel electronics or transmission line failures.

Distinguishing technical characteristics of Safran's aeronautical brake and tire monitoring are:

  • its field of measurement from 0 to 250 psi (Pound-force per Square Inch)
  • its operating temperature: -55°C ~ 175°C
  • LF transmission by inductive coupling
