Monitoring

The landing gear of civil and military helicopters is subject to intense stress during taxiing, take-off and landing. To improve safety during these particular phases, Safran Electronics & Defense offers a monitoring system allowing brake temperature and tire pressure to be precisly measured.

Monitoring, a solution for safety that simplifies maintenance

Safran's brake and tire control system was developed specifically for the aeronautics sector. This solution for monitoring braking equipment and tires is based on digital transmission of the sensor signal unlike first-generation systems that used analog transmission. This procedure will soon make it possible to detect some wheel electronics or transmission line failures with a high degree of precision. These faults can cause undetectable corruption of the physical parameter transmitted.

Presentation

Distinguishing technical characteristics of Safran's aeronautical brake and tire monitoring are:

  • its field of measurement from 0 to 250 psi (Pound-force per Square Inch)
  • its operating temperature: -55°C ~ 175°C
  • LF transmission by inductive coupling
